Founders Message

...It gives us immense joy to see that we are well on the way to fulfilling a promise we made 15 years ago at the Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai. As we looked down from the stage at the sea of little faces, all full of cheer and hope, we pledged to provide every needy child from small towns and villages, visiting large cities to undergo treatment for cancer, a safe, hygienic and caring place to stay. Nearly 23,000 children and their families have been admitted into St. Judes Centres across India since 2006. By 2025, St. Judes will be able to support 2000 children every year during the time of their utmost need. We have grown steadily, establishing our base in Mumbai, getting our model right, and then setting up in nine cities with reputed cancer hospitals that provide treatment. With Compassion and Empathy as our bywords, we have not compromised one iota of quality during our rapid expansion.

The doctors, whose work we serve, are the wind beneath our wings. They have provided guidance and support at every stage and worked with us as partners, united by the purpose of helping the children survive cancer. St. Judes owes a huge debt to our remarkable donors who put their faith in us and have stayed with us through these years, always responsive to our needs.

The COVID pandemic was a major test of our resilience, and we are happy to report that the whole team resolved to keep the Centres running throughout the pandemic while ensuring that we operated in a manner that kept our employees and families safe.

The 15th Anniversary of St. Judes is the right time for us to launch St. Judes for Life (Founded in Memory of Mrs. Rani Vicaji), a new initiative to support St. Judes children who have beaten cancer and aspire to reach the full extent of their potential.

None of this would have been possible were it not for our committed Team Member Volunteers and Staff Members, who came together with great enthusiasm since St. Judes was just an idea. Their invaluable contribution of time, experience and devotion to the cause made this dream come true. We made new friends along this journey and continue to welcome new members who want to contribute in whatever way possible to help these brave children beat cancer. And all the while, it was the Hand above that guided us and showed us the way.
